Porches and Patios

Hopefully, most of the pollen has come and gone and we can start to really enjoy this glorious spring weather. Our month of green has come to its end, but before we say goodbye to March, check out these fabulous green porches and outdoor spaces!

If you are not a huge fan of downing a green beer in honor of St. Patrick's Day, no worries! Here is a little green concoction for your St. Paddy's Day celebration: 

 Honeydew, Cucumber and Mint Mojito

                                    

**To make the garnish, cut a shamrock from a slice of cucumber skin using a shamrock cookie cutter.


Serves 1 (just double or triple, etc. for more servings)


Ingredients


1/4  lime wedge
2 sprigs fresh mint
cucumber slices
2 teaspoons superfine sugar
1 cup crushed ice
3/4 cup fresh honeydew melon juice (from half of a melon)
Club soda (I used ginger ale), fresca, or Sprite
1 Tbsp rum (optional)
Cucumber skin "shamrock," for garnish


Directions:
Place lime, mint, cucumber slices, and sugar in a tumbler or highball glass and muddle. Add ice to glass; pour honeydew melon juice over ice. Top with club soda or flavored carbonated drink. Stir and serve immediately garnished with cucumber  "shamrock."

Green is Good

Since the Month of March is all things Green, we wanted to shed some light on "Green Design". As all of us know, it is hard to find furniture these days that is manufactured in the good ole' U.S. of A. I always love it when I come across a company who is environmentally responsible. The most recent of these companies we have come across is Tritter Feefer. They produce wonderfully hand-made furniture in our neighboring state, Georgia and do a fabulous job. Their 34 water based finishes have a low to no VOC and are beautiful! They will even create your very own custom finish!

The Rainbow Room

This year we are participating in the Birmingham Botanical Garden's Antiques at the Garden Show. We have been selected as a Tastemaker and will create a pop-up shop entitled, "The Rainbow Room". How fun is that?! Our goal for the room is to feature the trend of vibrant and strong colors in interiors-tastefully, of course :)

Each month we will feature a Color of the Month on our blog to help inspire and provide colorful ideas for your home, garden and even your wardrobe! We will have the designers chime in with their insightful color ideas, have our shop girls pick their jojo Home favorites, and even a guest blogger here and there!

As for March, we have chosen all things Green!
